Review
Brooklyn Masala is a lively, offbeat mystery that blends personal reinvention with a dash of chaos in the culinary world as well as a female sleuth.
Sophie Schiller builds a story that feels both cozy and unpredictable, following Bella Bloom as her life unravels in one direction and surprisingly rebuilds itself in another.
It's light and witty in the best way. Bella isn’t a polished detective or a typical heroine, she’s someone figuring things out in real time and compelling to the reader.
We have a Brooklyn setting and food and culture abound.
The mystery isn’t overly dark or complex, but it’s engaging enough to keep the pages turning, especially because the stakes feel personal rather than procedural.
It has wit and personality and is a fun read with mystery and laughs.
