Son of an impoverished, dying chieftain, Ari raided for booty and slaves so he could feed his people. He was a heathen, probably a murderer, and it was a sin to lie with him.

Review
The flow of the novel was well executed and everything as far as pacing went felt smooth.
I very much enjoyed the characters and their interactions with one another.
There was a lot of backstory needed but it didn't bog down the novel as a whole.
I loved the writing style, it was easy to follow and the pacing was spot on.
Add to all of this the romance which was a great addition and it really was a well-rounded read.

About the Author

Hailing from Pennsylvania, Miriam Newman has developed a prolific writing career that began in her twenties, although she published her very first novel some time later in 2009. She was published in poetry before catching the romance writing bug. Fantasy poetry driven by myths and legends has been her passion for as long as she can remember and she brings that background to her writing, along with a lifelong addiction to horses, an 18 year career in various areas of psychiatric social services, and many trips to Ireland, where she nurtures her muse. Her published works range from contemporary fantasy romance to fantasy historical, futuristic, science fiction and historical romance. It was in Ireland that she wrote The King’s Daughter. Ireland is her favorite place in this world. “I connect there with something I can’t even explain,” she says fondly.

Miriam spent many years working in Social Services, and after retirement, she found herself working part-time in local government. Currently, she lives in rural Pennsylvania with a “motley crew” of rescue animals. Her passion for animal rescue and fostering has included a number of fur babies, from horses to dogs to a pig that appeared on her porch one morning. Also a lover of great books, the one that she finds most responsible for her venture into fantasy and recommends is The Once and Future King by T.H. White.

Book Tour & Book Review: When I Was Her Daughter by @oleslieferguson #blogtour #giveaway #memoir #nonfiction #bookreview #rabtbooktours @RABTBookTours @PublishingAcorn

Memoir

Date Published: November 12, 2021

Publisher: Acorn Publishing

Seven-year-old Leslie has a serious problem: someone is trying to kill her.

She must fight to save herself and her little brother from the stark realities of living with their mother’s raging psychosis. To evade the evil Russian spies her mother believes are after them, they forgo sleep, speak in whispers, and live on the run. Her mother searches for hidden listening devices, writes rambling manifestos about the impending Communist takeover, and attempts to kill herself and her children to protect them from rape, torture, and murder at the hands of the government. Controlling the chaos seems impossible—Leslie rebels, which only angers her mother, but when she obeys, terrible consequences follow.

Eventually, the police place Leslie and her brother in foster care. Freedom from her mother’s paranoia and violent tendencies offers the young girl a glimmer of hope, but she plummets into despair under the oppressive weight of abusive, alienating homes. All seems lost until a teacher intervenes, risking everything to bring Leslie to safety, to show her the redemptive power of trust and patience, and to prove unconditional love is possible, even without the bond of blood.

When I Was Her Daughter is a raw, honest account of one girl’s terrifying childhood journey through madness, loss, and a broken foster care system, where only the lucky and most resilient survive.

I found Leslie Ferguson's words eloquent, with powerful expressions.
Ferguson's extraordinary tale is where the reader wants and needs to be.
A remarkable story of tragedy to triumph.
I highly recommend this book and this author.

The Wolf's Den, Book 4

Paranormal Romance

Date Published:11-26-2021

He's waited a lifetime for her.

Melody Walker has a dark history. It's only been three years since she was bitten by a rogue werewolf, and her husband was killed. Since she's unable to shift, she's tried to live as a human, desperate to hold on to what she knows. She's worried her best isn't good enough when an enormous man shows up at her doorstep and changes the game.

Gunner Newsom didn't expect to meet his mate when his pack took over the community at Rhodes, but he's grateful for the gift of her. She's everything he's ever wanted. Witty, resilient, and sexy as hell. There's just one thing that stands in his way. His female is fighting to protect her only child, a little girl who's in danger of being given to her paternal grandparents as she's human and her mother is a werewolf.

What belongs to him, he loves, cherishes, and keeps. Not only will he claim the mate he's been given, but he'll also protect the daughter he's accepted as his own. He'll kill anyone or anything that attempts to stand in his way.

Excerpt

He stared at her, wishing things were different between them. If she was a pure werewolf, she'd pick up what he was trying to throw down. She'd understand straight away. But that wasn't the case. She had to come to terms with what was currently flowing through her.

"I want you to think about that when you go to bed, Melody," he instructed quietly. "Think about how things would be if I were sleeping beside you instead of taking refuge on the couch. I want you to take in what you've learned about me the last few weeks. Remember every single thing I've done since I've come here."

He ripped his eyes from hers, severing that kind of contact, waging a war within himself. He had to push his bestial nature back to address her as a man and not the beast she thought him to be. He cleared his throat when was in complete control, striving for calm.

"Consider how things could be with me by your side. You don't have to be afraid. Not of me or anyone else. Take a minute and envision the life I can give you if you'll let me."

The story definitely takes you along, almost by the hand. In an age where It seems everything has been written about, Woodscourt brings a number of fantasy elements together in a new way. It’s a great combination that ultimately brings a wonderful Fantasy Adventure.

Audiobook Tour & Review: Taking Time by Mike Murphey #blogtour #bookreview #audiobooktour #audiobook #scifi #rabtbooktours @RABTBookTours

...a Tale of Physics, Lust and Greed

Humorous Science Fiction

Audiobook Release: June 26 2021

Publisher: Acorn Publishing

Narrator: Melanie Hooks

Run Time: 10 hours and 17 minutes

photo add-to-goodreads-button_zpsc7b3c634.png

The year is 2044. Housed in a secret complex beneath the eastern Arizona desert, a consortium of governments and corporations have undertaken a program on the scale of the Manhattan Project to bludgeon the laws of physics into submission and make time travel a reality.

Fraught with insecurities, Marshall Grissom has spent his whole life trying not to call attention to himself, so he can’t imagine he would be remotely suited for the role of time travel pioneer. He’s even less enthusiastic about this corporate time-travel adventure when he learns that nudity is a job requirement. The task would better match the talents of candidates like the smart and beautiful Sheila Schuler, or the bristle-tough and rattlesnake-mean Marta Hamilton.

As the project evolves into a clash between science and corporate greed, conflicts escalate. Those contributing the funding are mostly interested in manipulating time travel for profit, and will stop at nothing, including murder, to achieve their goals.

Review
I love the narration of this book, it really brings to life the characters and the adventure they are entwined in.
Sci-Fi / Time Travel aspect is really well done. It's a young adult feel, but can be enjoyed by anyone.
So many funny moments and I think those really come across in the narration as well. Great listen!

Book Tour & Book Review: Clipped by Adrienne Alitowski #blogtour #bookreview #giveaway #memoir #nonfiction #rabtbooktours @aalitowski @RABTBookTours

Memoir

Date Published: November 4th 2021

Publisher: Acorn Publishing

Clipped is a quirky memoir about a new mother whose desperation to get her baby to sleep catapulted her into becoming an inventor and a small business owner—just before the world fell apart in 2008.

As a full-time mother and entrepreneur, Adrienne Alitowski rolled out her invention, blankyclip®, to retailers across the country, including over thirty stores in the Buy Buy Baby national chain. LA Parent Expecting and Kids Today both made blankyclip a “Top Pick.” The United States Patent and Trademark Office awarded her three utility patents and a trademark. All that fabulous glory aside, Adrienne also learned what it’s like to fly halfway around the world to a Chinese factory and to be pregnant, throwing up on the street just before an investor meeting. These experiences led her down a path to write this memoir about sticking to your vision and being open to finding gold in the muck.

Review
I loved how Adrienne's story can really inspire. Often times we feel we are put in a box and only able to do what we are already doing. We have ideas, but think that would never work, that could never be me...

This for me is an inspiring story. We get the start to finish, the times she could have given up, the power of perseverance.

I loved the humor the author laced through the book. It really made her feel like a friend.

About the Author

Adrienne Alitowski invented, patented, and manufactured blankyclip®, a stroller accessory. She sold blankyclips nationally in Buy Buy Baby as well as in many boutiques across the country and around the world. As an actress, she performed on Broadway and toured with the National Theatre of the Deaf. Her television credits include Will & Grace, Just Shoot Me!, Everybody Loves Raymond, and Beverly Hills, 90210, among others. She produced and co-wrote her one-woman show, Just Tell Them You’re From Scarsdale, which she performed in New York and Los Angeles. She created, produced, and performed in the celebrity benefit Glen Mary Glen Rose: Women Do Men, in Los Angeles, which raised funds for breast cancer research as well as awareness about the lack of diverse roles for women. She is the mother of two and lives in Los Angeles with her family. Clipped is her first book.

Behind the wheel of a 1979 camper van, Tessa idles at a fork in the road. Will she cruise the superhighway to the future? Or take a slow trot to the past and a mysterious society she never dreamed she'd glimpse from the inside?

Excerpt

The girl entwined her fingers in her skirt and tugged the fabric tight. “Your hair is the same color as my cat, and she’s the best cat in the world.” In [w1] a heartbeat, she fled and buried her face in the man’s lap.

My goodness. What a compliment. Thank you.” She fumbled with the clasp of her wallet, discovering only then she smooshed her thumb deep into the whoopie pie.

The elfin child giggled and bounced on bare toes.

Standing, the man swept her into his arms and smiled down at Tessa. “Rebecca has not seen many women with ginger hair.”

Ginger hair. For years, she was tormented by boneheaded boys shouting, “Carrot Top” and “Flame.” No one ever called her mane ginger. Beneath his candid gaze, her curls heated like embers, warming her from top to toe. Who was this man?

The girl wriggled, knocking askew his straw hat.

He tossed her under one arm like a sack of flour and righted it, loosening a tawny curl that escaped the wide brim and fell over one brow. His gaze passed over Tessa’s face.

Her unruly hair and short shorts tweaked at her consciousness. What did the Amish call outsiders? English? She was definitely dressed like an English woman. And not one from a Jane Austen novel.

He deposited the giggling girl right-side up on the floor and approached the table. “I’ve rarely seen hair that color myself. Like a copper penny.”

She stared at the mangled whoopie pie and blushed even deeper. For a brief moment, she felt his gaze trail down her body like a caress. Or did she?

He’s Greg Wager and he works at Travel World. We’re also inviting Beth and Tara. If you see them tell them I want them to meet me at the pond.” Sheryl nodded in agreement.

Ashley shut the door and grabbed her cell phone to call her other two sisters to invite them. She called Tara but had to leave a message about the camping trip because no one answered.

When Ashley called Beth and told her about the trip Beth immediately became excited and accepted the invitation.

While they still spoke on the phone Beth Forester took out her suitcase and opened the top. The trip would be in two days and time always seemed to go by fast for her. She packed two bags of food and got a fishing pole out of the garage.

“Don’t worry about anything but driving yourself to the camp site. I’ll bring all the food and after we get off the phone I’ll make everyone’s reservations for them.” As soon as the camping reservations were made Tara called Ashley back and she also accepted the trip invitation.

Ashley spent at least an hour on the phone that evening. Deanna came back into the living room when Sheryl left and then Ashley called lawyer Veronica Cane to make an appointment. She asked for advice, “Can she sue him to get the money back?”
